Duke University East Campus in 1909: The Anne Roney Fountain and The Stagg Pavilion. The largest of the American Tobacco Company's twelve warehouses, Smith Warehouse was built across the railroad tracks in 1906. Today, the main entrance road into East Campus is farther to the right. The old fountain still stands (hidden by magnolia trees).

2011 Update: The Roney Fountain has been relocated to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens of Duke University and beautifully restored.
